26th of May - Independence day of Georgia
"The will of the Georgian nation has been fulfilled—long live independent Georgia, may God protect it!"
This moment stands as one of the most thrilling chapters in recent Georgian history. Indeed, on this day, the aspirations of the Georgian nation, anticipated for almost three centuries, have come to fruition. Three centuries devoid of independence, without a sovereign state—yet, on this day, a centuries-old nation is truly born.
But before this, Georgia traversed an extensive path—a journey marked by anxiety, struggle, victory, disappointment, and the emergence of heroes. For centuries, attempts were made to extinguish and subjugate Georgia, yet something resilient persisted. It was ingrained in literature, music, folklore, architecture, and traditions—perhaps the reason it could not be eradicated.
Every Georgian is aware of a unique power within them that is difficult to explain. This power adds meaning to life and encourages individuals to dedicate themselves to worthy causes. It serves as inspiration for the creation of beautiful things such as masterpieces, poems, and songs. This inner strength also provides the strength to confront challenges and influences the individual's perspective on life. Despite not fully comprehending or expressing it in words, there is a shared belief that this intrinsic power should be liberated.
Talent thrives in freedom, revealing its potential amid resistance. This resilience, akin to a flower growing on a rock, remains impervious even to the devils of hell.
The entire planet has undergone its evolution; great empires that preyed on small nations like ours have fallen. Now is the time for a seemingly small country with a population of just 3.5 million to influence the path of human development. Georgia has awaited this moment—the realization of Georgia's hidden potential.
Georgia is undoubtedly a land of talented individuals. Perhaps the greatest challenge is to maintain individualism while functioning as a single organism—a beautiful bouquet adorned with diverse flowers.
Now, Georgia has attained long-awaited independence, and the invisible talent, with a planetary scale, can emerge and rejoice.
Our destiny is in our hands. The struggle for independence does not conclude; instead, a new responsibility begins. Freedom is a great responsibility—no longer dependent, everything is within our grasp. Where will Georgia go, what will Georgia build? This responsibility is shared among all citizens, to varying degrees.
Georgia must not extinguish the fire passed down by our predecessors. Instead, with our work and efforts, Georgia should ignite it, warming the entire planet. The unique essence of our country can spread like an ointment, illustrated by Borjomi water.
Although Georgia's independence was declared on April 9, 1991, May 26, 1918, remains Georgia's birthday. Unfortunately, the independence at that time lasted just three years.
Despite its ephemeral existence, those three years were vital for Georgia. They were like the first flower breaking through the frost, signaling that the fetus is alive, awaiting its chance.
Winter is necessary; the surface freezes, but the fire in the heart of the earth persists. Life is burning, ready to break out.
The new Georgia emerged, like a sapling sprouting from an old, cut oak log—its roots firmly rooted in the past. Georgia proudly presents one of the unique fruits of this tree to the entire planet.
Borjomi, as an ambassador of Georgia, narrates the country's history to the world. Water, with its memory, holds the essence of independent Georgia.
This day is ours—the present, the past, and the future are ours! After a long time, our country is truly ours!
